We truly understand the importance of children exploring the great outdoors, discovering their surroundings, and expanding their knowledge of the world.
We believe that this exposure is crucial for children to develop cultural capital, and we take pride in our ability to provide it even without a garden.

By stepping out into the world outside of their usual learning environment, all of our children have daily opportunities to explore a range of creative and preplanned outdoor activities that not only contribute to their physical development but enhance what they are learning throughout the year.
Community & Local Trips
Although we love our local park, there is so much to see in our local community, therefore, our practitioners organise activity trips to supplement the curriculum.

So whether our children are visiting the local library to take out books, walking to the farm to see the animals or going to the shops to buy ingredients for their next big bake, there is always something to do in our neighbourhood.
By exploring their local area every week, our children get to know the people that make up their neighbourhood and the important services that exist within our beautiful community.
Despite the slightly wetter weather this year, we've been very busy this year! As well as the activities above we've also:
-
Checked in on the swans and waited for their eggs to hatch
-
Watched a show at the New Wimbledon Theatre
-
Released our butterflies into the wild after helping them grow from caterpillars
-
Learnt how to play tennis during Wimbledon Tennis
-
Had a Football Funday with our families for Father's Day
-
Taken part in some Sports Day Fun
-
Celebrated our friends going to primary school with a graduation in the park!
Outdoor Explorers
How do you keep children safe while on outings?

A designated Outing Leader is assigned on outings, the role of the outing leader is to ensure the safety of all children and staff while outside of the nursery, this includes carrying a phone, first-aid kit and a register. Outing leaders also ensure head counts are regularly done during the outing.
During all outings, children and staff wear yellow AHN high visibility vests, children also wear reigns to ensure we can guide them in walking safely.

What If It Rains?
As much as we would love to go outside every day, it is not always possible.

Just like in schools, if the weather is too wet or too cold, we must put our little one's health and safety first!
But we always find ways to make the most of those moments with indoor obstacle courses, dance parties and movement activities!
